*Please Note: No attempt has been made to pass these songs off as "authentic" or "period music". They are a collection of songs I wrote and recorded to help recall the events of the Battle of Gettysburg. While I hope the listener will find them entertaining, there is also an educational purpose as well. Enjoy!
If you like what you hear, you can buy a copy of the CD to have for

The Songs Three Days in July - This
first song sets the scene for the battle. On the Road to Gettysburg - Day one
of the battle. The Union cavalry stumbles upon the Rebel army, who are
only trying to steal some boots for the shoe-less soldiers. To Gettysburg - Written
from the point of view of the towns people, this song describes what
must have been a horrible landscape to behold. Trust in God (And Fear Nothing)- During
the battle, two good friends were looking forward to becoming
reacquainted. The trouble is, Hancock was for the Union, and his old
pal Armistead was a Rebel. Only one of them made it. Devil's Den - Devil's
Den was was the sight of some of the bloodiest action of the second day
of the battle. Little Round Top - The great
bayonnet charge led by Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain brought the 20th
Maine to greatness. The Wounded Soldier - I put a
tune to a poem found clutched in a dying soldier's hand. The Gettysburg Maid - Jennie
Wade was the only civilian killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. Pickett's Charge - A valiant
but futile Rebel charge that brought and end - and a Union victory - to
the battle. Abraham Lincoln Rode Into
Gettysburg - This last song is
inspired by one of the greatest speeches of all time. All songs copyrighted by Jim Nelson, 2004. |
