When The Cutaways were first formed, we used to practice there almost every Sunday evening. Much of the music that we perform today was honed and perfected (or not) during those practice sessions.

<img class="imageStyle" alt="MUMC" src="http://www.thecutaways.us/blog/files//page18_blog_entry11_1.jpg"width="350" height="194"/>

Of the six songs heard here, two remain in our regular song rotation, two are brought out occasionally, and two never did see the light of day. These recordings are rather crude. If memory serves, we used my Fostex VF-16 to capture the music, and then the tracks were mixed down directly to computer and burned on to a CD. Tim had his electronic drum set that evening, and most of the instruments were plugged directly into the board. Not the best of recording circumstances.

Anyway, enough excuses. Listen at your own risk:

The Church Demos

Opening for Craig Morgan

<dc:subject>Blog</dc:subject>

Last night we played our gig as the opening act for national Country Music recording star Craig Morgan. A great time was had by all! It was so much fun to watch the crowd get into it, and we could just see the anticipation building throughout the night as we all waited for the big moment when Mr. Morgan took the stage. We played three forty-five minute sets, and we rocked it about as hard as we are capable of rocking. Thanks to the Pioneer for having us, and thanks to all the wonderful people who were up by the stage a-hootin' and a-hollerin' all night long. We had a blast!

This is what we got to look at while we were playing. Talk about a rock and roll dream come true!

<img class="imageStyle" alt="morgan" src="http://www.thecutaways.us/blog/files//page18_blog_entry10_1.jpg"width="400" height="300"/>

Day Three at Country Jam '08 - A Wash Out!

<dc:subject>Blog</dc:subject>

This is where they were dancing the day before!

The day started off with pretty nice weather. We're afraid it's all been a terrible misunderstanding caused by a mutual failure to communicate. As soon as we finished playing RotaryFest 2007, they immediately asked us to play RotaryFest 2008. Of course, we agreed. We love playing RotaryFest! The problem is, not everyone knew that the date for RotaryFest 2008 was April 19th. Meanwhile, about six months ago, one of us booked the band to play a wedding dance on - you guessed it - April 19th. Everyone in the band agreed that we could do it, unaware that this was the same night as RotaryFest. When we finally got in touch with the RotaryFest people to see about 2008, it was too late, and there you are: double-booked. We certainly couldn't leave a frazzled bride standing at the altar, so to speak, so we (as gracefully as possible) bowed out of RotaryFest.

We sincerely apologize to all of the RotaryFest organizers and attendees for the mix-up! We hope to be reinstated as RotaryFest band in 2009!
