The Cutaways were born about four years ago when Jim and Marv and a guy named Dudley decided to get together and play some tunes. It was totally acoustic back then. Just three guitars and three voices. We opened for for Aaron Hyde's band one night at the Mabel Tainter Theater. That was the only gig that the original Cutaways ever played.

Soon, we added Greg as another guitarist, which meant that someone was going to either have to leave the band or learn to play bass. So Jim and Greg decided to take turns playing the bass. It was still mostly acoustic music up until this point. Well, then Bob cam along and the happy Cutaways family was five strong. Finally, we decided to liven up our sound and learn a few danceable cover songs. This necessitated the addition of a drummer. Enter Tim. And then there were six.

Well, it was about this time that Dudley decided that he didn't really want to follow the path that the Cutaways seemed to be taking. That is, more gigs in bars and taverns and other places like that. The whole scene didn't appeal to Dudley, so he left the band to pursue his own solo career.

That brings us up to speed. There are now five Cutaways: Bob, Jim, Marv, Greg, and Tim. We have gone from an acoustic band to a group that plays a lot more rockin' stuff, with some country thrown in at times. Truth be known, we're just a bunch of old farts trying to be rock stars, and we're lovin' every minute of it.
